You may have started fasting this month for Ramadan, or you may be a bodybuilder or gym enthusiast who is going on a fasting diet plan. So what is the best food to have in the morning when your starting your day of fasting?
Well, your body is probably already used to having 6-8 meals a day from your training days. And the amount of Protein you consume is probably quite high. So what is the best meal to have in the morning to give you enough energy throughout the day and to give you a good source of protein your body needs at the same time?
If your like me, you’re really tired and sleepy when you make up very early in the morning for your breakfast, and don’t want to spend ages making a nutricious and healthy breakfast. Instead you want to have a quick and healthy meal before you head back to bed. Then this is the healthy option I have that is nice and quick to make, and is also very healthy to maintain your protein levels.
- Protein Fruit Smoothie – I have a NutriBullet blender at home so I chuck the following things in there:
- Chia Seeds
- Acai Berry Powder
- Protein Powder
- Liquid Egg Whites
- Semi Skimmed Milk
- Almond Butter Toast – I get 2 slices of Wholemeal or Rye Bread. Toast it. And spread Almond Butter and Virgin Coconut Oil on to it.
- One Litre of Water – This is very important to stay hydrated and to flush out all the toxins in your body.
- Dates – I eat 3 dates alongside this to give that little sweet satisfaction and also provide my stomach with some fibre.
Have this and it keeps your fresh throughout the day until you need to break your fast with a real meal!
I would recommend staying away from Cereal and White Bread as this will counteract the essential protein, carbs and fat that your body needs to maintain that healthy diet your body is used to.
